Seeing is Believing A Campaign Providing Free of Cost Eye Surgeries
The Blind People’s Association is the largest blind welfare organisation in the country. It is known for developing a variety of need based programmes for the comprehensive development of the visually impaired persons as well as persons of all categories of disability, namely hearing impairment, orthopaedic impairment as well as mental retardation. Its activities range from prevention of blindness and disability, education, professional and vocational training, and resource mobilisation, production of mobility, educational and rehabilitation and assistive devices. Community based rehabilitation and research and development. It also mobilises resources, develops appropriate manpower, provides advisory services and influences state policies.
The applicant organization wishes to expand its services of comprehensive rehabilitation and education of blind and disabled persons. It has established a comprehensive Health Care Centre at Bareja on the piece of land donated by the Bareja General Hospital Trust.
BPA’s has already established an eye hospital named as Navalbhai and Hiraba Eye Hospital at Bareja. At present it has the capacity of performing 10,000 cataract surgeries every year. During the year 2012-13, it performed more those 8000 surgeries.
The organization organizes eye screeing camps in the rural areas and slums of Ahmedabad. With this amount we can provide services of eye check up, refraction, diagnostic services, providing medicines, counselling and referral to eye hospital.
The project can be visited by any person on all working days from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m to meet the patinets and to observe all activities.
