Here is an example of just how much $5USD can help. Huge difference. No cost.

Shoes so a child can attend school.

The Children and Youth Empowerment Centre (CYEC), Nyeri, is a dynamic and innovative residential and educational program for street-dwelling children and other highly vulnerable young people in Kenya. They seek to empower and prepare young people to be healthy contributing members of society through programming in the visual and performing arts, sports and entrepreneurship. A youth cooperative serves as a business incubator for youth leaving the program.

They CYEC is also a model program for the national initiative for street-dwelling families and partners with local civic organizations, the private sector and Kenyan and U.S. universities to find effective, sustainable solutions for this population that can be replicated nationally.

Children are required to have closed-toe shoes to attend school. This is an added expense on top of supplies and fees.

The CYEC is about 2 1/2 hours from Nairobi and 10 minutes from Nyeri. Please contact Edward at [email protected] or Bernard at [email protected] to set up a visit.
