Production and Sale of Lemon Grass Essential Oils
This project benefits, Widows, single teen mothers, out of school female and male youth persons aged between 18-35.This projects’ negative impact will be limited to the resistance likely to be faced in the event where men as household heads are the sole decision makers on land. During this donor support period, the project will aim at growing and processing lemon grass into essential oil for sales with future value addition. It will empower vulnerable female affected by HIV/TB to live better lives through the creation of sustainable employment generation initiative. The anticipated constraints in obtaining planting material and oil market will be tackled in time to ensure success. This is based on lessons learnt from other similar projects implemented in Uganda. By ensuring steady availability clean water, distilling wood fuel and a constant supply of raw lemon grass, this project will succeed. This will empower disadvantaged rural young women, widows and youth with sustainable livelihood and improved income and better prospects of self employment and the creation of employment for many more unemployed rural youth. Environmental awareness and protection will be harnessed. Women and female youth will have improved skills, financial stability and independence in addition to better health and gender equality.
The 150 seedlings can produce 12000 kgs annually enough to sustain an average household in Uganda.
