Here is an example of just how much $5USD can help. Huge difference. No cost.

Pays for one teacher to teach one after school session.

Asha Trust has been working in a small community in Mount Lavinia for the last 10 years, helping people to build ladders out of poverty. Starting out under a tree, Asha Trust now has a purpose built community centre in the heart of the community which runs activities for children, women, and special needs children and adults. Asha Trust also provides employment training for unemployed young people, income generating activities for local women, and support for isolated elders.

This would pay for one of the teachers to teach one session at the after school club in the community centre. We have 4 teachers that between them teach over 70 children. Most children in Sri Lanka go to extra tuition classes to pass exams, however parents in this community can't afford to send there children to these classes. So this after school club provides essential support for these children.

It may not always be possible for someone to visit the project but we will try our best to accommodate anyone who would like to visit. Please contact Katherine at [email protected] to make arrangements to visit the project.

What To Bring

Exercise books, pens and other stationary are always welcome. Also English Language story books would be greatly appreciated.
