Save the Lives of Women and their Newborn Infants in Rural Nepal
Our headquarters in Nepal are located in Kathmandu, but we work in the remote, rural regions of Nepal where access to maternal healthcare services is extremely limited and women and their newborn infants needlessly die far too often of preventable causes.
Our network of skilled birth attendants, community health volunteers, and birthing centers currently serve the entire districts of Baglung and Dolpa so that every woman in these two districts has access to a safe birthing experience. We have over two decades of experience delivering our model in Tibet and Mexico, where we have successfully eradicated preventable maternal deaths in the communities we served.
After only four years in Nepal, One Heart World-Wide has reduced maternal and neonatal deaths over 80% in Baglung and over 50% in Dolpa (where we started the program a year later). We have been busy with preparations to deliver services to three new districts in 2015: Dhading, Sindhupalchwok, Bhojpur.
Your support will help us to drastically reduce maternal mortality and neonatal mortality rates in these new districts that still lack necessary maternal healthcare services and facilities.
Over 1,000 community health volunteers distribute clean birth kits to all pregnant women in their communities, allowing the mothers a clean, safe birth, free of complications related to poor sanitation.
Due to the remoteness of our clinics, you are welcome to visit our birthing centers on prearranged donor trips. Please contact [email protected] for inquiries.
