In poverty-stricken Cambodia, marginalized families live on the fringes of society, barred from legal protection, and suffer from extreme poverty. Children are unable to go to school, with many remaining illiterate. Subsequently, marginalized individuals are highly vulnerable to being trafficked. In fact, research has shown that the number of sex providers from marginalized communities represents as high as 30% of the total number of commercial sex workers in Cambodia. Research has also indicated that there are currently little social services available to these vulnerable groups.

To provide early childhood development programs and community-building activities to marginalized families from the Samaki community (vulnerable group of Khmer and Vietnamese who mainly work as rubbish/ recycling collectors) in Siem Reap.

The Lotus Kids' Club aims to:

1) Prepare children from the LKC for entry into Khmer primary schools.
- To provide at least 20 community children with sufficient educational preparation for entry into Khmer primary schools (eg. Khmer, English and numeracy skills);
- To provide children with behavioral and other relevant skills sets (e.g. manners and etiquette) in readiness for school;
- To provide structured play activities and arts and crafts to promote healthy child development;
- To provide children with a sense of belonging and to encourage mental and emotional growth through community-building activities;
- To provide children with basic health/hygiene education through programs centered on public health;
- To deliver healthcare programs, including medical checkups in collaboration with approved healthcare providers; daily vitamins and a First Aid kit for the community.

2) Promote positive community-building activities. 
- After school hours, the facility will be used as a space for a Community Center, providing personal development and community-building activities for at least 20 children between the ages of 8 to 18.

3) Encourage parents to value the importance of education.

4) Improve relationship between Khmer and Vietnamese families.

5) To provide values education within a Christian context while respecting local cultural and religious beliefs.
