Here is an example of just how much $5USD can help. Huge difference. No cost.

Consultancy with the audiologist, speech therapist or psychologist

Fundacion Patronato in Medellin, helps children with disabilities as hearing loss, and whose families are not able to pay for rehab.

After a cochlear implant or a hearing aid, is fundamental to continue with language therapies. This year we have received requests from 12 children who need multidisciplinary therapy with audiologists, psychologists and educators.

The rehabilitation process allows them to have an adequate inclusion in social, educative and family life. After giving hearing aids or cochlear implant to children with hearing loss and language disorder; the project will also strengthen their comunicational skills through audiologist therapies and will provide for psychological sessions to the beneficiaries and their families to have a better quality of life. Through this rehabilitation the children will achieved the health and psychosocial well-being required to go smoothly through their educational process and will achieve the needed social inclusion. T

he project will benefits directly 12 children and indirectly will teach their families to foster an adecuated learning environment. Each child lives with parents, sisters and brothers, each family has around five members. To ensure adequate school inclusion for the 12 beneficiaries, it is necessary in this project to train teachers so they can help in the educational process. This project will help around 60 family members and 12 teachers.

As part of their rehabilitation, children must attend weekly therapy sessions with a psychologist and language therapist; five dollars would secured these meetings.

This project can be visited from january through december, on weekdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Please contact Carmen Ruiz at 3167433455 or [email protected] if you are interested in arranging a visit.
